Commentary (English version)

The piece begins with a tenor saxophone solo, and after a while a group of another seven instruments (a recorder, a cello, five percussions) join in. The tenor saxophone and the group of seven instruments proceed with their own separate musical processes, but they meet together just before the final part of the music—this is the way the piece was composed, but whether the listener listens or hears the music that way is another story. My main interest in this piece was to find out at what point the listener perceives the tenor saxophone and the group of seven instruments to have met.

Commentary (Japanese version)

　この作品は冒頭、テナーサックスのソロから始まり、しばらくすると他の7楽器（リコーダー、チェロ、打楽器×5）のグループが加わります。テナーサックスと他の7楽器のグループは別々のプロセスの音楽をそれぞれ進めていきますが、音楽の最終部分の1歩手前で合流する—というのはこの作品を作曲する際の作り方で、聴き手がこの音楽をそのように聴く／聴こえるかは別の話です。聴き手がどこでテナーサックスと他の7楽器のグループが合流したと感じるのか、がこの作品における私の一番の興味でした。
