Commentary (English version)

It's a long piece of music for the title "Fragment," but musical time is proceeding only slowly by persistently repeating some of its fragment. For example, smashing a bottle is an instantaneous event for us, but when we film it and play it back, we can advance the playback time little by little by repeatedly rewinding the moment when it's smashed. The musical time of this piece is almost like a video that has undergone such an editing process.

Commentary (Japanese version)

　日本語で断片という題名の割には長い作品ですが、その断片の一部をしつこく反復したりすることで中々前へ進まない音楽です。イメージとしては、例えば瓶を思い切って叩き割るというのは一瞬の出来事ですが、それを撮影して再生する際に、巻き戻して割れる瞬間を繰り返しながら少しずつ再生時間を進めていく、といった編集作業を行った映像というものが近いです。
